Collectivist #4: Marketing maestro

WRITTEN BY

Tony Hallett
Managing director

Tony set up Collective Content in 2011 so brands can more easily become publishers and tell stories. This built on 15 years in media, from reporter to publishing director at Silicon Media Group, CNET Networks and CBS Interactive.

At the end of every month the CC Blog names a partner we recommend. It has to be someone we’ve done business with. And someone we like to spend time with. (Because who wants to work with someone they don’t like?)

This month’s Collectivist absolutely ticks those boxes.

Matt Davies – sales and marketing, digital business consultant …and inventor

A few weeks back we were with Matt, at his offices where his Yoke Digital consultancy is based in Putney. They’re right where the annual Boat Race starts and at the race the previous weekend a lot of the people he does business with got to meet each other. And afterwards, the thought occurred that Matt is great at bringing together interdisciplinary teams.

And so it was that a few days later we spoke about the episode of Seinfeld where an orchestra conductor Jerry doesn’t really care for insists on being called “maestro”. Matt learnt he’d be named in this upcoming monthly piece – and we’d take the piss by calling him a maestro. (Could have been worse – he could have been a conductor.)

Collective Content (UK) founder Tony Hallett worked with Matt at CNET Networks UK and before that at Silicon Media Group. Matt went on to UBM, as a digital director, but never lost that start-up mentality.

As such, today he helps large organisations and small businesses fully exploit digital. He works as a general business and biz dev consultant, but we’ve mostly worked with him as he gets companies’ digital marketing where it should be – including areas such as SEO, PPC, web design and development, newsletters, technology, the list goes on.

We’ve worked with him on content marketing and blogging projects and have no hesitation in recommending him.

And if you wondered how entrepreneurial he is, check out his invention, from Yoke Shopper.
